This weekends NFL combine was arguably one of the biggest weekends Jameis Winston would face prior to draft day. The combine give the incoming players a chance to show off their measurements and skills on and off the field. Jameis ended his career at Florida State with a endless amount of awards, Heisman Trophy winner, Orange Bowl Championship title and a BCS National Championship title just to name a few. Winston was very impressive during his time on the field at the combine and continued to validated his expectations of being the overall number 1 pick with his work in the classroom.
Winston spent some one-on-one time with Steve Mariucci, giving him a chance to show off his brilliance on the whiteboard. The interview starts with Mariucci drawing up a play using some foreign language that only football players understand then Winston is expected to draw the play up minutes later. Not only was Winston able to draw up the play but he showed off his football IQ by explaining the play step by step with no problems.
This should not come to the surprise of anyone. Not only did Winston compete at the high level while at Florida State, he only lost 1 game in his career, continues to be vocal and is full of confidence. At the quarterback position, he should be the smartest player on the field, most prepare and ready, if he wants to lead a team at the NFL level. I feel Winston has shown his football IQ once again and will be throwing passes to Mike Evans in this upcoming season as he mentioned.
