The 7-month marker for Paul George’s gruesome leg injury from a team USA Basketball scrimmage in Las Vegas this summer is coming up in March. The injury required 7 months to heal and today was the first day that Pacers media asked General Manager Larry Bird about George’s status. Bird contends that Paul George will play if he is cleared medically by the team doctors and training staff.
Bird, on if Paul George will return this season: “If he gets healthy and they say he can play and he wants to play, we’ll let him play.”

This could be a risky proposition for the Pacers, George has proven himself to be one of the top ten players in the entire NBA and to risk his future prospectus for an already lost season for the Pacers would be foolish. I’m sure that they will re-evaluate their stance on George playing or not, closer to the expected return date in March. Hopefully the teams record will play a factor in that decision.
