Lions GM Martin Mayhew was noncommittal on the future of running back Reggie Bush in Detroit. Bush ran for just 297 yards and missed five games — prompting Lions brass to question Bush’s future in Detroit.
“Yeah, well, a lot of guys that are under contract are in the same situation,” Mayhew said, via the Detroit Free Press. “So it’s really about the value you bring to the organization, that’s constantly re-evaluated every off-season.”
Mayhew hinted at the indication that the Lions could do more with less.
“When you have a guy like Theo Riddick who can make a difference in the passing game, that brings value to your team,” Mayhew said. “Joique Bell, being a between-the-tackles runner for us is big and he does a good job catching balls out of the backfield as well. I like guys that are versatile, but you’ve got to have a guy who can run between the tackles and you’ve got to have a playmaker who can do some stuff in space.”
