There is something about playing college football games at night in primetime with all of the eyes of nation on you. The crowd is louder, the lights are brighter and the players play harder; it’s a lot of fun to watch. Watching the shootout in The Big House between Michigan and Notre Dame in 2011 was amazing and it made me wonder why there wasn’t more night games, well it seems like more night games are in the plans.
Jim Hackett says there will be more night football at Michigan Stadium next season, and the Wolverines’ interim athletic director says he’s enjoyed working with new coach Jim Harbaugh since hiring him about a month ago.
Hackett was at Michigan’s basketball game at Michigan State on Sunday, and he said an announcement of at least one night football game will come soon.
I’m pretty pumped up about this. The Big House is one of the best college football venues in all of the land, and if Jim Harbaugh gets that program turned around those night games will have some serious juice. Can you imagine having the Ohio State/Michigan game at night in the Big House? Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but I can at least dream about it.
