If one thing hasn’t been a secret this off season, it’s the fact that Chip Kelly and his Philadelphia Eagles would love to get Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.
The only way Kelly could reunite with the quarterback he recruited in college is if the Eagles trade their No. 20 pick. But who would be willing to trade down with the Eagles?
According to Bill Williamson of ESPN, the Raiders would probably be the best team that would be willing to trade with the Eagles. Apparently, Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie’s comes from the school of trading down in drafts.
“If the Eagles want to move up, the Oakland Raiders, would surely be open to discussing the No. 4 overall pick. But the Eagles have the 20th pick and that will take a lot of maneuvering to move up that far. Just how much would it take? It would take a lot for Philadelphia to move up. I’d say the No. 20 pick, a second-round pick and perhaps even next year’s No. 1 pick — maybe more. In 2011, it cost Atlanta first-, second- and fourth-round picks in that draft and first- and fourth-round picks in 2012 to go from No. 27 to No. 6 in a deal with Cleveland. That was a jump of 21 picks. The Eagles’ move in this scenario would be 16 picks. So, it’d take less to move up,” said Williamson.
