Former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones allegedly threatened in a text message last week to “smack” a woman with whom he was having a relationship, according to records obtained by WDRB News.
The woman claimed she went to Jones’ apartment and waited for him, but he didn’t return, according to the police report.
Around 3 a.m., according to the report — after she acknowledged “messing up” his room. At 2 p.m., the report states — Jones allegedly texted the woman that he would “smack the f*ck out of” her.
Later that day Louisville Coach Rick Pitino suspended Jones for the Cardinals’ Wednesday game vs Syracuse.
Jones did not travel with the team, which lost 69-59.
Jones was re-instated and scored 17 points in Louisville’s 55-53 win Saturday against Miami. .
The woman, who is not identified in the report — stated that she did not want Jones prosecuted but “preferred that someone talk to him about his behavior.”
