Rusev Crushes Cena Where the Sun Don’t Shine
Aside from the Fastlane main event, the match most hyped up all night was the confrontation for the U.S. Title between Rusev and John Cena. Rusev has yet to be pinned or submitted, and, well, Cena is Cena so this was definitely a match that piqued the interest of the WWE Universe.
The early part of the match saw Rusev in full control, unloading on Cena with kicks to the body. Cena eventually makes the comeback as he usually does, and he goes for a quick Attitude Adjustment but Rusev counters with a DDT and splashes Cena twice. Cena again retaliates and goes for an AA but Rusev kicks him in the face and gets a near-fall. Cena eventually recovers and locks the Bulgarian into an STF, but he powers out and hits Cena with a spinebuster.
Rusev then calls for the Accoladte but Cena counters and hits Rusev with an AA out of nowhere! 1..2.. AND THE SUPER ATHLETE KICKS OUT!
Cena can’t believe that Rusev kicked out so he heads up top but Rusev catches him and stomps him in the back before locking the Accolade in. Cena somehow lifts Rusev up off of him and tries to slam the big man, but Lana hits the ring and distracts the ref, opening the door for Rusev to take control with a vicious low-blow.
He then hits Cena with a kick to the face that knocks the 15-time champ out cold, before locking in the Accolade again. With Cena unconcious and unable to respond, the ref calls for the bell to be rung, and the Super Athlete has a title match win over John Cena via submission. How many guys in the history of the company can say that?
