Chris Mullins is coming home — in a move that is certain to shake up the Big East and college basketball. Former St. John’s legend, Warriors star and NBA Hall of Famer, Chris Mullins, has accepted the job at his alma mater.
“He’s in,” a source close to Mullin told the Daily News, adding that he’s on his way to New York.
Talks between St. John’s and Mullin heated up after the Red Storm were bounced from the NCAA Tournament. Mullins was a great player, and pretty good executive, but has never been a head coach on any level.
Mullin is St. John’s all-time leading scorer (2,440 points), a three-time Big East Player of the Year and the star of that Final Four team.
