Evander Holyfield: Pacquiao Needs to Take Chances to Win

Evander Holyfield

Former boxing champ Evander Holyfield was asked about the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to get his prediction on a winner. Holyfield was non-committal. Or was he?

Via CBSSports,

Evander Holyfield resisted the urge to make a definitive pick on the fight, but did suggest that Pacquiao would have to “take chances” and that “the only way [he is] going to beat Mayweather is if he takes some chances.”

“It’s a toss-up, because their styles are just that different,” Holyfield told Newsday. “Pacquiao, the only way he can win is if he corners him off. If he corners him off, I think he will win. I don’t think he can. But that’s what makes the fight so interesting.”

To be honest, it sounds like Holyfield is leaning towards Mayweather but wants to hedge his bets just in case by giving ways Pacquiao could win. I mean when someone says “the only way he could win is…” it sounds like Mayweather is the favorite in his head with Pacquiao having an outside shot to win which is the case in almost any contest. So many people are giving their opinions and we still have two months to go until the fight.
