I am a man of logic and common sense.
I take what people say and then I look at their actions to prove they are a man or woman of their word. On several occasions Michael Sam has said he only wanted to be known as a football player and would only be focusing on football. Shortly after making these statements he is doing things that have nothing to do with football, but things geared to make Michael Sam a celebrity. Doesn’t matter if it is Oprah or Dancing With The Stars. What I would like for Michael Sam to do is just be honest with us. It is ok to want to be a star and have a lot of attention, but don’t insult our intelligence by saying that isn’t what you want.
As far as his veteran combine workout, most felt it was subpar and this has nothing to do with him being gay, just strictly observations on the football field.
Michael Sam’s performance at this weekend’s NFL veteran’s combine may have been the final nail in his NFL coffin — with multiple GMs, agents and scouts saying he wasn’t just bad … but “flat out horrible.”
As one big time NFL agent put it … “My real honest opinion is that he was flat out horrible. He did not belong out there.”
An NFL scout who was at the combine tells TMZ Sports he looked stiff and slow … but says Sam’s attitude was even worse. “He thinks he’s a superstar. It would be nice if he could do something on the field to back up the attitude.”
As for the NFL general managers … one person says, “The concern was that he didn’t look focused on the game. He regressed.”
Another high powered NFL agent, who represents multiple Pro Bowlers, tells TMZ Sports … “Here was a chance to show his determination and dedication and the GMs didn’t see that.”
“I think there’s a chance he could play in the Canadian Football League. He sells tickets. He attracts fans. And from there you never know.”
It is very difficult to critique Michael Sam, because people immediately believe you are homophobic or a gay basher. While that may be true for some, it is illogical to assume everyone is like that. Some people just don’t think he is that good of a football player and he has gone Hollywood. You should be able to say that without repercussions.
I always want everyone to succeed, if Sam truly wants to be back in the NFL. I hope he understands for the time being some of his side activities may need to be put on the back burner.
