As most NBA fans can tell you, Pacers star Paul George was coming into the prime of his career when he had broken his leg on that fateful practice with Team USA back in August, 2014. The fear had been that George would miss the entirety of the upcoming season, one which the Pacers looked to finally move past their LeBron woe’s and find themselves reppin’ the East in the Finals.
Unfortunately, in order for that to happen now, George is going to have to make one hell of a comeback. As for how that comeback is going, he’s began practicing with the team again. On Feb 5th he told reporters he would only need a couple weeks to return to condition, but he has since backed off such a statement. No one can know for sure if he’ll return this season, but George certainly sounds confident.
“I’m coming along,” George said. “It’s always a matter of how sore I’ll feel. That’s the only thing giving me days (where) I’m not coming along. I get sore sometimes. But while I’m on the court, I don’t feel any pain holding me back.”
“That’s how I see the whole picture playing out, me being the missing piece and healthy and full strength and the freshest out of the group going into the most important part of our season, the playoffs,” George said. “If I can make an appearance and start rolling leading into the playoffs, the story will write itself.”
The Pacers have had a league-leading record of 9-2 since the start of February. The team is fully healthy, save for their talented 24 year old, and it appears as though the sky could be the limit if they were to add the versatile player going forward.
Here’s to hoping Paul George’s wishes come true. One things for sure, it’d make for an incredible story.
