Report: Adrian Peterson Could Still Be Traded to Cardinals

Adrian Peterson says he's entering his prime

The Adrian Peterson drama continues to unfold, and now it’s looking like a trade to the Cardinals isn’t all that unlikely.

The Cardinals continue to be the most likely destination for Peterson.  Despite Peter King’s report that the Cardinals won’t absorb Peterson’s current contract, the presence of comments supporting the move from Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgeraldon the team’s official website — make it clear that the Cardinals remain in play, if they can work out compensation packages with the player and the team that holds his rights.

Just in case you haven’t been paying attention, AP wants out of Minnesota- BAD. However, the Vikings recently told Peterson’s agent that they wouldn’t be releasing him and they want him to return. The Vikings GM then reached out to Peterson’s agent for a dinner, to which he was sharply rejected.

Fair to say things are getting icy over in Minnesota. AP needs to remember that, in truth, he caused this all.

The Vikings obviously don’t want to cut him and receive no benefits. And you can’t really blame them for being hesitant to trade a guy when they would get pennies on the dollar in return.

I hope he does get traded, though, because I want to see him on the field again. If he doesn’t, I’m afraid he’ll refuse to play for the Vikings and sit out the season.

We’re likely to find out more sometime within the next week when the owners meet for the annual league meetings.
