Troy Polamalu was a great player for the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years, but he’s almost 34, and a shell of his once dominant self.
The Steelers are one of the most loyal franchises in all of sports.
The Steelers would like for Polamalu to retire a Steeler, but the ball is in his court. Ed Bouchette is reporting that the Steelers are pleading with Troy to walk away a member of the family.
The Steelers are under the cap and are not forced to make any decisions just yet regarding cutting salary. However, Bouchette does mention that more cap relief will come when they begin to restructure certain contracts.
Then, there is the case of Troy Polamalu.
“That is the elephant in the room,” Bouchette said. “I expect him not to be here by some means. The Steelers are hoping he would retire, but I don’t know if he is going to.”
Polamalu is done in Pittsburgh and as a player — I just hope he sees the writing on the wall.
