The Twins have a lot to look forward to in the coming years, according to fan favorite Torii Hunter. After reaping the benefits of such a miserable season (63-99 in 2011) they chose outfielder Byron Buxton with the second pick in the 2012 draft.
Now it appears Buxton may be ready to take the big leagues by storm.
Though the Twins sent Buxton to minor league camp last week, the outfielder, who many view as the game’s top prospect, should reach the majors at some point this summer.
“Mike Trout Two,” veteran outfielder Torii Hunter says.
“Yes. Oh my God.”
Many may dismiss this praise as Hunter being a company guy and attempting to boost the morale of the fan base, but as BleacherReport points out, its important to remember:
Those words carry some heft… Hunter helped groom Trout during his first two seasons in the majors and remains close to the American League MVP.
Byron Buxton is probably somewhere in a batting cage right now wishing Torii Hunter would have kept his big mouth shut.
Big things really may be on the horizon for the young phenom, but only time will tell if he’ll be able to live up to such lofty comparisons from Torii.
If nothing else, its just another reason to be excited for the future, Twins fans..
