These Diaz brothers surely know how to jump around weight classes.
Nate Diaz will leave the UFC’s lightweight ranks and try his luck at welterweight; a division he hasn’t competed in since 2011.
Ariel Helwani reported during Wednesday’s “UFC Tonight” that Diaz will take on top 5 welterweight Matt Brown at UFC 189. Brown is coming off of two losses but those losses came at the hands of the previous two division champs, Lawler & Hendricks.
Diaz is coming off of a defeat to now champion Rafael Dos Anjos.
This fight joins an already stacked card for UFC 189:
- Champ Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor – for featherweight title
- Champ Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald – for welterweight title
- Dennis Bermudez vs. Jeremy Stephens
- John Hathaway vs. Gunnar Nelson
- Brandon Thatch vs. John Howard
- Alex Garcia vs. Mike Swick
- Matt Brown vs. Nate Diaz
