Tonight Premier Boxing Champions present Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson on prime-time NBC. No titles will be on the line when Garcia and Peterson face off, fighters have agreed to 143 pounds catch weight. Peterson wanted the opportunity to face Garcia and establish himself. Danny didn’t want to cut weight down to 140 pounds as he tries to make the steps to move up to 147 pounds.
Garcia is an expert counter puncher is hoping that Peterson gets careless. Garcia brings his undefeated record into the match but his last fight against Mauricio Herrera was majority decision. Garcia has already stated that he wants to go for the knockout. Peterson will need to be smart and change his attack throughout the match to keep Garcia from getting into a flow. If Peterson isn’t careful, Garcia has the strength and skill to get Peterson off balance and get some knockdowns.
PREDICTION:
In the end Garcia should pull out the win after 12 rounds, unanimous decision. I wouldn’t expect Garcia to be careless and open up many opportunities for Peterson to take advantage. Garcia doesn’t have to worry about being overpowered or Peterson speed taking advantage. This should allow Garcia to pick his opportunities.
The other big fight tonight; Peter Quillin and Andy Lee. Since Quillin did not make weight yesterday this fight will no longer be for the Middleweight Champion. Lee will look to end things early against Quillin and turn this more into a brawl. Lee has talked about like fight styles that are more exciting and more like brawls. Lee will need to sat the style and pace of the fight early.
PREDICTION:
Lee will prevail after 6 rounds. Lee will be the aggressor and set the style. Quillin will not be able to keep up and match intensity.
