Orlando Scandrick has really improved as a football player, and it’s putting the Dallas Cowboys in a difficult position financially.
Scandrick is set to make $1.5 million in 2015, less than fellow corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne, and is signed through 2018 after agreeing to an extension with the Cowboys late in 2013.
Scandrick is also the Cowboys best cornerback presently, which makes for an interesting dilemma. Cowboys COO Stephen Jones told 105.3 that Dallas just re-did Scandricks deal.
“He’s under contract, but not unlike a lot of players, they’d like to have more,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan, via the Dallas Morning News. “Orlando is under contract. If something makes sense for us to add some years or do something then we’ll take a look at that, but we just re-did Orlando’s contract a couple years ago and he’s been a really good football player for us. He’s a leader on this team, and we certainly need him out here. In my mind, he should be out here right now, working out.”
The workouts are voluntary, so this could be a bunch of fuss about nothing right now.
