Last night, WWE presented Extreme Rules live from Chicago, a show filled with great undercard matches and an okay main event. Let’s take a look at what went down.

Rollins RKO’s His Way to Retaining the Title

The main event of the night was a steel cage match between bitter rivals Randy Orton and WWE Champion Seth Rollins. In the match, Orton was banned from using the RKO, so he was put at a disadvantage almost immediately. It didn’t help, that J&J Security were stalking the cage and Kane was the Gatekeeper.

With so many people involved in the match, the fear here is that it would become a mess, and boy did it ever.

The match itself was exactly what we’ve seen over the past couple of months, but Rollins and Orton still managed to keep it entertaining… until everyone else got involved. Rollins hits a big superkick to the Viper for a near-fall then tries to escape the cage and out come J&J Security to help but Orton pulls Rollins back into the ring by his hair.

Orton hits a hanging DDT and begins to call for an RKO, but since that’s banned he decides to take Rollins down with a Pedigree because taunt Triple H whenever you get a chance.

Rollins kicks out so the Viper tries to go for a punt to the Champs head, but Rollins counters with an enziguiri and tells Kane to open the cage door. He starts making his way out but Orton catches him and hits a backbreaker before going for the door himself, but Kane shuts it on him. Rollins tries to drop kick Orton but the Viper dodges it and Rollins hits the cage door and Kane, sending the Demon flying.

And now, Kane is mad. Like really mad. Like it’s time to destroy the whole world and over-saturate this storyline with Kane AGAIN.

Kane gets into the ring but J&J Security calm him down for a second, and well you can probably guess how that worked out.

Kane then turns his attention on Rollins… but turns around and grabs Orton instead. Guess who chokeslam victim number three is?

Now the opportunity is there for Rollins to sneak out with the win thanks to Kane…

Or maybe not. Kane stops Rollins from leaving and hits a MASSIVE chokeslam on the champ because he just doesn’t like anyone right now. Kane drags Rollins body over Orton for the pin but Orton somehow kicks out and this just makes angry Kane even angrier. He goes after the Viper but Orton dodges it and…

RKO’s are legal on anyone not named Rollins so Kane eats one and the Viper is getting amped. The only issue here is he doesn’t see Rollins sneaking up behind him…

Rollins hits the Viper with an RKO and rolls out of the cage for the win! Your winner and STILL WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins.

Aside from the chaos that ensued when WWE decided cage interference needed to last 17 minutes, I loved the finish between Rollins and Orton. With Rollins minus a finisher right now (R.I.P. Curb Stomp), having him RKO Orton for the win was a great finish.
