Amir Khan is preparing for a tough fight with Chris Algieri but that doesn’t mean that he is too busy to keep an eye out for Floyd Mayweather.
During today’s media phone call I asked Amir Khan what he thought of Mayweather’s performance against Pacquiao:
“Mayweather looked great, he did what he had to do to win the fight, his accuracy was nothing but the best. Mayweather is very skilful, patient and makes his opponents make mistakes. His work rate has dropped because of his age.”
He then pointed out an observation many people haven’t addressed:
“There were a few things there that’d I’d not seen before. When he takes a good shot he does panic.”
That’s interesting given Floyd did get stunned by a few left hands, two that put him up against the ropes. Khan went on to detail where Mayweather went wrong.
“The only way to catch Floyd is with speed and explosiveness, which Manny had, but Manny didn’t use it enough in the fight.”
Khan may get his shot at Mayweather this fall if he can prove to be an exciting draw.
