How Bogut Almost Got Warriors to Sign Dellavedova

Delle2

Australian National Basketball teammates Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova are used to aplying with one another, and it was almost a possibility in the NBA.

Bogut explained the scenario recently to Sydney Morning Herald.

“I was trying to get him (Dellavedova) here actually, but we didn’t have a roster spot at the time,” Bogut revealed to reporters after a training session.

“We had Nedovic and he was in the point guard spot for us,” Bogut recalled.

“I was trying to tell Bob to get him (Dellavedova) in.”

Dellavedova went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft after a great career at Saint Mary’s, and earned a roster spot with the Cavaliers after a nice stint with them in the NBA Summer League. Needless to say, he has been an undrafted gem for the Cavaliers.

The new ‘dirty player’ of the NBA, Dellavedova was very close to signing with the Warriors, unfortunately there wasn’t an open roster spot at the time. Luckily, the Cavaliers can use ‘Delly’ to be a pest and bother NBA MVP Steph Curry starting Thursday in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Never surprising on the ‘what-if’ stories that arise in the Association.
