Karlos Dansby Snitches on Patriots Deactivating Headsets

Dansby

The Patriots have made a lot of enemies over the years, and now they’re all beginning to climb out of the wood work to air their dirty laundry. This next one might be a stretch, but you be the judge.

Current Browns LB Karlos Dansby believes that the Patriots purposely caused his headset to malfunction during a snowy December game in Foxboro, back in 2008.

Patriots fans will remember this as the year Brady went down with his knee injury. Back-up Matt Cassel had been at the helm for nearly every snap that season but New England was, once again, knocking on the Playoff’s door.

Dansby was with the Arizona Cardinals at the time, and had former USC star Matt Leinhart behind center (a man whom Cassel had been back up for his entire career at USC).

“My headset was working fine, every game,” Dansby said. “Until the very last game of the year. We get in Foxboro, they couldn’t get my headset fixed, for nothing in the world.”

“I didn’t have not one problem until I went into Foxboro,” Dansby said. “You can ask anybody on that team that year. We didn’t have no problems with my headset until I got to Foxboro. And, man, I tell you every time I came to the sidelines, taking my helmet off trying to fix it. They was trying to fix it, they couldn’t get it fixed. So we had to give hand signals, and we were dead in the water. They ran when they wanted to run, they threw it when they wanted to throw.”

Asked if he believes it was an accident or deliberate, Dansby replied, “‘C’mon, man. C’mon. It’s not a secret. They gotta do what they gotta do to win, man. They gonna do what they gotta do to win. It’s just how they operate.”

Electrical malfunctions are a favorite for conspiracy theorists because they can’t be explained away – remember when the lights went out at the Super Bowl? Some people still believe the NFL had something to do with that. I guess for them, its hard to believe that sometimes things go wrong.

Dansby is %100 convinced that it was the Patriots purposely sabotaging his team’s chance to win, though. And the organization’s past obviously hasn’t done themselves any favors in terms of defending against these accusations.

The Patriots very easily could have been messing with their communications, who knows? This isn’t the first and it certainly would not be the last time that a headset for an opposing player mysteriously stopped working. That occurs all over the League.

In my opinion, though, this was all for promotional value. You see, the only reason Dansby is currently on this press tour (which included this stop by PFT) is to promote his new skin care line.

He figures if he reveals some juicy story it’ll get him some clicks and… Welp, it worked. This story was too good to pass up.

Now the question is, do you believe Dansby? Or are the Patriots just currently the subject of a witch hunt?
