Some people have to just learn to bite their tongue and Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan has to be near the top of that list. McCloughan has a background in baseball after playing three season in the minor leagues and he has also worked in scouting area with football. McCloughan was recently asked if Washington Nationals’ star outfielder Bryce Harper played in the NFL, what positions would he best be suited for and shared these very controversial words.
“Ehhhhh, probably strong safety. But I went to a game a couple of weeks ago, and he flipped his hips and caught a fly ball out in right field in the corner, and I thought maybe cornerback. But I’m thinking, uhh, okay, no, he’s gotta be a safety. He’s a white guy.”
He seemed to have wanted to hold those words back a little with the stumbling over his words prior to the white guy comment. You would think McCloughan would be more sensitive with the ongoing protest surrounding Washington Redskins and their named which many Native Americans find racist and offensive.
