ROH Lands TV Deal With Destination America

ROH Destination America

Destination America must really love wrestling. The company that already houses TNA Impact Wrestling has now officially signed a second wrestling promotion to a TV deal. Ring of Honor is officially on Destination America after a surprise TV deal was announced. This is a huge deal for ROH and terrible news for TNA, who will reportedly be cancelled in September by Destination America. This is the first national TV deal for ROH since 2011 when their contract expired with Mark Cuban’s HDNet. ROH will be a cheaper alternative for Destination America, as the show has less production cost than Impact Wrestling and will run weekly at 8 pm on Wednesdays as a lead in for TNA’s Impact Wrestling show. This could actually be an interesting way to get more eyes on both shows, but ultimately this is to try and boost ROH fans for when TNA is finally pulled in September. Here is a bit of what Ring of Honor is about.

Samoa Joe tweeted it best at hearing the news.

ROH has produced big name stars like current WWE champion Seth Rollins, current NXT champion Kevin Owens, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, and many more. ROH has more good will in its corner as the internet and wrestlers show them much more love than TNA ever received. TNA has this negative stigma going for them and maybe they need to just close its doors and re-brand entirely. The TNA name needs to go and something else needs to take it’s place. It will be interesting to see how the battle for the number two wrestling promotion plays out, with Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wresting also starting soon.
