Criminals do the dumbest things.
Here are the details via Metro:
Police officers arrived at the Sichuan Garden Chinese takeaway in Brighton in March after receiving a tip-off that two men had been seen inside the restaurant in the middle of the night.
Though officers could hear voices when they arrived and gave a thorough sweep of the takeaway, they were unable to find the two men until they opened the freezer storage unit.
Shivering on the floor were Stephen Fidler and Dene Temple, who had inadvertently locked themselves in the room.
‘When my officers found the suspects they were expecting a frosty reception but the suspects were very pleased to see them, which makes a change,’ said Chief Inspector (and part-time comedian?) Dave Padwick.
They should be lucky they are alive, although they have to spend some time behind bars. I’m sure they learned their lesson.
