Kirk Cousins had his opportunity to be named quarterback of the future in Washington, but he squandered it, throwing eight interceptions over a four-game span — before eventually being benched.
Former Redskins, Browns and current Falcons offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan, believes Cousins has all the tools to be “a great NFL quarterback.”
“Kirk’s one of the sharper guys I’ve been around. He processes things so fast. He lets it rip. He’s as tough as can be. Like what I said about Rex (Grossman), he’ll hang in there and doesn’t flinch. Kirk has a chance to be a great quarterback some day.”
Shanahan no longer has to coach him, so he’s clearly overstating the potential of the Washington backup.
