NBA prospect and Kentucky Wildcat Willie Cauley-Stein will be a lock to go in the first round of the NBA Draft this Thursday. However, multiple teams are taking a serious look at a pre-existing injury that could potentially have him slide a few spots.
According to Draftexpress.com, teams are concerned about the same foot that made Cauley-Stein miss significant time in the 2014 NCAA tournament including the entire Final Four.
“Teams are also concerned about an injury Cauley-Stein suffered in last year’s NCAA tournament, which cost him the Elite Eight, Final Four, and NCAA championship game. The stress fracture in his left ankle required a pin to be inserted, and some teams believe “some maintenance” needs to be done to determine if the injury has completely healed.”
There is no question Cauley-Stein looked great in the 2015 NCAA tournament and his immense presence in the middle as a rim protector was tops in college basketball last year.
The former wide-receiver turned basketball player after coach John Calipari recruited him, has the size and athleticism to assist multiple teams and change an identity of a team defensively in the league.
Let’s see where Cauley-Stein gets drafted Thursday, whoever could surely reap in dividends.
