With NBA free agency approaching, the San Antonio Spurs are all in on locking up their future face of the franchise Kawhi Leonard.
Ken Berger of CBS Sports has reported the Spurs will offer the 2014 NBA Finals MVP a five year max deal worth an estimated 90.9 million. One side note to the offer is after the fourth year their is an early termination option, a way for Leonard to opt out sooner if he deems.
The former Aztec is the key player going for forward for the Spurs organization, not to mention addressing him now means Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford can focus on landing the air apparent to the legend that is Tim Duncan.
Possible options include Memphis Grizzlies’ center Marc Gasol, Portland Trailblazers’ power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, and Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe.
Free agency begins July 1 and the Spurs look to wrap up Leonard’s contract immediately.
