Duke’s coach Mike Krzyzewski name alone carries weight, when he speaks people listen. Just months after winning the National Championship, Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils are in rebuild mode after losing Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow and Jahlil Okafor to the NBA draft.
Coach K has nothing but positive words for those guys who decided to leave Duke early following their dreams of playing in the NBA especially Okafor.
“Okafor going to be a high double-double guy in the pros. He’s gifted. He’s got feet and hands that you can’t teach. He’s got an attitude that’s amazing. I think he’s the best player in the draft.”
It will be interesting to see if NBA executives feel the same way. It’s been rumored that the Minnesota Timberwolves will take Karl-Anthony Towns with the 1st overall pick leaving Okafor for the Lakers who have been linked to several possible trades of their pick. I think Okafor will be a solid player for many years but I just don’t get the future NBA star vibe from him.
