Chris Johnson Using Near Death Experience as Motivation

Chris Johnson

It’s been four months since Chris Johnson suffered a gun shot wound to the shoulder during a deadly drive-by shooting. Johnson is currently a free agent and is more than determined to return to the NFL. Back in March, Johnson and two friends were headed to a Orlando studio when someone opened fire on their car, killing the driver Dreekius Oricko Johnson.

“It was a life-changing experience. It showed you how to enjoy life and how to enjoy every day waking up. Because just as easily as it was one of my best friends that was sitting right next to me, the one that got killed, it easily could have been me. So these days, I’m just enjoying life and making sure I enjoy every day.”

Johnson has used his time away from football to recover and regain his focus on what’s most important to him.

That gave me motivation and gave me something to look forward to, and that’s football.”

Johnson finds himself in a quiet period for the NFL. Most teams have already made roster moves and are headed into camp with a roster full of healthy players. Johnson is focusing on getting back into NFL shape but won’t likely receive any calls until camp starts and player become injured or cut.
