Denver Nuggets and Danilo Gallinari are finalizing a contract extension that will pay Gallinari $34M over the next 2 season. Gallinari contract was going to expire at the end of the 2015-2016 season.
If you think $34M is a lot of money for a player that only played 51 games last season and started only 27 of those games. Remember after next season the NBA new TV deal starts and players are expecting that huge jump in salary cap.
Denver benefits from signing Gallinari to the extension. This allowed Denver to also restructure next year salary and spread out the pay raise over time.
