Cespedes is a bat the Mets desperately need if they hope to contend for one of the two remaining National League Wildcard spots.
On the year, Cespedes is batting .293 with 18 home runs and 61 runs batted in. His presence in the line up will help Mets’ bats and assist star David Wright with some of the responsibility of driving in runs.
The Mets are currently 52-50 and 4.5 games back of the second NL Wildcard spot.
