Marcus Mariota remains the only NFL 1st round draft pick that isn’t signed. Mariota was touted as the draft’s golden boy because of his squeaky clean image and his tangibles on the gridiron, so what could possibly have brought a snafu to the Titans’ master plan to bring the franchise back to relevance?
A simple clause in the contract that prohibits Mariota from surfing is apparently the snafu.
According to endzonescore.com, Mariota – who is the only unsigned first-round pick – is balking at the Titans including a clause that forbids him from surfing.
Call it a cliche, but Mariota is from Hawaii and likes to surf. NFL teams are known to include language in their contracts that prohibit players from engaging in activities that can cause major injury, and surfing just happens to be on the list. Despite everything, Mariota will in the near future sign a contract with the Titans. Both parties are just ironing things out.
