A VERY scary moment occurred at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto over this past weekend:
The crowd watched in horror as Venezuelan weightlifter Genesis Rodriguez Gomez seemed to collapse during a failed clean-and-jerk attempt in the women’s 53kg group.
Astoundingly, Gomez was uninjured and able to collect herself and finish the event. In fact, not only did she finish but, she went on to earn a silver medal.
Nothing short of amazing. I am personally glad the young lady was okay, however; I’d be curious to know if anyone was concerned why she fell out in the first place.
Or is this a common occurrence in powerlifting?
