Upon first hearing the news that some player just received more votes to play in the MLB All-Star game than anyone ever, you’d probably assume it’d be one of the men pictured above. Or Bryce Harper, perhaps.
The truth is, the man that was given such an honorable title is far from a household name; none other than the Blue Jays Josh Donaldson. Via theScore,
Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson ran away with fan voting this year, setting an All-Star voting record with 14,090,188 votes – 80,000 more than Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
Thats obviously an impressive number, especially given the fact that he’s currently hiding away up in Canada’s baseball market. And Josh Donaldson is more than deserving of the nod – he’s hitting just under .300 with 19 home runs and over 50 runs knocked in.
It’s just hard to take the voting process seriously when the MLB recently admitted to having to vacate 65 million votes that, at one point, placed the entire Kansas City Royals lineup as the starters for the AL.
