UFC 194 will be hyped up as the ‘McGregor Show’ as Jose Aldo brings his belt from Brazil to challenge the interim champ, Conor. The fight that will slide under the radar but possibly steal the show is the recently announced Chris Weidman vs Luke Rockhold middleweight championship fight.
Many see the fight as a toss up but Weidman doesn’t seem to think the fight will be very close:
“He’s not great anywhere,” said Weidman on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “I’m taking him very serious and I’m gonna be ready for the best Luke Rockhold we’ve seen. And I’m gonna take him out quick.”
Conor’s win over Chad Mendes at UFC 189 was great but it wasn’t as entertaining as the co-main event of Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald. This Weidman-Rockhold fight has the same potential at UFC 194.
Weidman is the lone remaining undefeated champion in the UFC but Rockhold will the first fighter that can match the champ’s size and strength. It’ll be interesting to see how this fight plays out in December.
