The Drama of DeAndre Jordan resigning with the Clippers is not over yet. The NBA has announced that the Clippers will be fined $250K for violating league rules for DeAndre Jordan recruitment tactics. During a presentation to Jordan the Clippers included a potential 3rd party endorsement deal for Jordan. This is a violation NBA Rules, the league states in a press release they didn’t feel this ultimately lead to Jordan resigning but was still a violation.
I question if other teams have been fined for this in the past. New York and LA have long used their market size in presentations to perspective signee’s. And show players how their brand value can increase with coming to the larger market. Makes me wonder if the league just didn’t like how things were handled and found a way to fine the Clippers.
