Jeff Fisher Responds to Todd Gurley’s Frustrations

Jeff Fisher Todd Gurley

Todd Gurley’s last season at Georgia was cut short thanks to a torn ACL, but that didn’t stop him from being drafted 10th overall to the St. Louis Rams.

His talent in the years prior spoke for itself, and left many NFL analysts scrambling for a comparison from football’s past. Gurley’s explosiveness and quick feet will make him a fantastic weapon for Jeff Fisher and that Ram’s offense – they just have to make sure he stays healthy.

Part of that means taking it easy at practice and sitting out preseason games while he continues his rehab.

Being the competitor that Gurley is, the young RB is frustrated with his current situation and is doing everything to get out there with his teammates as soon as possible.

His head coach, meanwhile, needs Gurley to remember the big picture whenever he begins to get frustrated with sitting out.

Fisher wants to make sure Gurley—who isn’t expected to play during the preseason—doesn’t put the rest of his career in jeopardy by hurrying back too quickly.

“Of course he’s going to be frustrated here for the next six or eight or 10 weeks, but big picture-wise, I’m talking about eight or 10 years. He’ll look back and go, ‘Oh you did it right.’”

Of course Fisher is right, but you can’t really blame Gurley for being frustrated either.

Let’s just hope he fully rehabilitates and then channels that frustration onto the field so we can see more plays like this from him.
