Today the Nevada State Athletic Commission held it’s monthly meeting and it has appointed Kenny Bayless as the referee for the September 12th fight between Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto.

This will be the 4th straight Mayweather fight Bayless will referee, while Bayless has only been the ref for one Berto fight. That fight was a 1st round KO victory for Berto in 2005.

ESPN dug in their archives and pointed out that Bayless has the chance to be the man in the ring for the beginning and end of Floyd’s HOF career.

On Oct. 11, 1996, Bayless was the referee when Mayweather made his professional debut by knocking out Roberto Apodaca in the second round at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas.

Bayless will make $10,000 to referee this fight, which is a drop in a bucket compared to what Floyd Mayweather stands to make in the fight.
