LaVar Arrington was a monster linebacker when he was healthy at Penn State, and early on with the Washington Redskins.
Now an analyst for NFL Network, Arrington believes Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker, Randy Gregory, has the potential to become a ‘juggernaut’ in the league.
“He has the potential to be a juggernaut in this league,” Arrington said on NFL.com’s Presesason HQ. “Make no mistake about it, he was a top 15, top 10 pick, maybe even a top five pick.”
“The one thing that jumps out is the minute you look at him, he looks like DeMarcus Ware in that 94 uniform with the rag on the side, the way he’s wearing his uniform. And he will speed up,” Arrington said. “This is his first game as a pro. Randy Gregory is going to be thinking too much for a little bit
“He’s got to learn what it is that he needs to do, read keys, pressure fingers, what are they trying to do, are they double teaming him, are they chipping him. There are a lot of different stunts he’s going to need to learn, pass coverages and those things. Once he gets the feel for what it is that he’s doing then you’ve got to watch out because he’s going to be a dangerous player for that team.”
Gregory recorded his first sack in the league, and nearly got another one later on in the action.
