Floyd Mayweather has taken a lot of criticism in recent weeks for taking a fight with Andre Berto over bigger names like Amir Khan, but according to Larry Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, fans have nothing to be worried about this September.
While the fight is likely to be Mayweather’s last, Ellerbe says that Floyd will be more aggressive than his recent bouts and take the fight to Berto on September 12.
“So with that, I think you’re going to see a totally different kind of Floyd, too, because Berto fights in a very aggressive, offensive manner and it kind of forces you to do other things.”
“Floyd didn’t take a step back in the Pacquiao fight, so what makes anybody think that he’s going to take a step back in this fight? And the other guy’s fighting the same kind of way.”
While this may excite fans, many will still be skeptical after the snooze-fest that was Mayweather-Pacquiao in Floyd’s last fight. I guess we’ll have to wait until September to see if Ellerbe is right.
