The feud between the best pound for pound boxer in the world and arguably the best pound for pound UFC fighter in the world continues to rage on.
After Ronda Rousey took a little verbal jab at Floyd Mayweather at the ESPYs, Mayweather went full troll mode on Rousey on Sportscenter.
Here is the quote from MMAFighting.com:
On Thursday night, Mayweather, the most popular boxer in the world, took a verbal swipe at Rousey on ESPN’s SportsCenter. This follows Rousey’s putdown of Mayweather at the ESPYS last month.
“I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes,” Mayweather said. “When she can do that, then call me.”
Mayweather wasn’t all snarky, though.
“A while back I didn’t know who Ronda Rousey was, so I’m pretty sure she got upset. I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC. You guys have done a tremendous job and I’ve won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey.”
Wow, Floyd definitely didn’t pull a punch with that line.
While he definitely is right about how much money he can pull in during his fights, it’s a little below the belt to go that route. In my book, it doesn’t matter how much money you are pulling in per fight. For me it matters if the product you are putting on is exciting and is going to make me want to keep tuning in.
I think Ronda has that going for her despite Floyd pulling in much more money by a large margin.
