North Carolina State Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried finally got his first 2016 commit and it just so happened to be the number one point guard.
Smith chose NC State over the likes of Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville and Wake Forest.
“Growing up an NC State fan, I knew they would be one of my top schools,” Smith said. “Coach [Mark] Gottfried made me a priority, showing up, sitting in front to all my games in the live periods. That loyalty meant a lot to me. After giving the decision a lot of thought, we all felt State was the best situation for me.”
NC State has been a solid program over the past years, but maybe a guy of Smith’s caliber is exactly what they need to get over the hump.
