New Orleans Saints running back C.J. Spiller was a new weapon expected to make an immediate impact. However, his debut won’t be the NFL regular season opener on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapport tweeted this on Spiller’s status.
#Saints RB CJ Spiller (knee) will not play in Week 1, I’m told, as he recovers from that minor knee surgery. Likely good to go after that

With Spiller out, Saints star running Mark Ingram will get a heavy work load versus a stiff Cardinals defense. Quarterback Drew Brees is already missing his favorite target Jimmy Graham who was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
Will see how effective this Saints offense is without Spiller’s playmaking in Week 1.
