The departure of now Philadelphia Eagles DeMarco Murray has left a committee of running backs vying for the Dallas Cowboys starting running back position. It looks like Darren McFadden has emerged as the likely Week 1 starter at home versus the New York Giants.
Clarence Hill of the Star Telegram tweeted this on McFadden’s status heading into the regular season opener.
They cowboys don't have a pitch count for Darren McFadden who is the likely starter at running back for the season opener

The Cowboys will be featuring two backs to split the carries between Joseph Randle and McFadden. Keep an eye on newly acquired Christine Michael to get some carries as well, who was the Seattle Seahawks second round pick in 2013.
Will see if McFadden can stay healthy for the season and run successfully behind a strong Cowboys offensive line. Quarterback Tony Romo will need a balanced offense to avoid a heavy dose of passing and to keep teams honest.
The Cowboys will look to repeat as NFC East division winners beginning Sunday with the Giants.
