If the Week 1 Sunday Night match up between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants wasn’t enough excitement for you, this Sunday’s matchup between the Cowboys and their former running back DeMarco Murray’s new team Philadelphia Eagles, should be the icing on the cake. DeMarco led the league in rushing last year with the Cowboys but left the team after they decided not to pay him what he felt he was worth. Leaving for the Eagles, division rivals, adds more fuel to this weekends matchup.
DeMarco is coming off a less than stellar Week 1 performance. His 20 total yards from scrimmage, 9 rushing and 11 receiving, left bitter Cowboys fans excited he left and anxious Eagles fans wondering if Demarco had anything left in the tank. Just days away from facing his former team, Murray is calm and sticking to his normal routine.
“This is true business. I’m very emotionless when it comes to a lot of things, especially the business side. I feel like I’m here and this is the best place for me. This is where I want to be and this is the team that wanted me.”
DeMarco was asked if it would be strange see all the Cowboys helmets Sunday:
“I’m not worried about those guys. I’m sure they’re a great group of guys and a great organization. I have a lot of respect for them but I moved on a long time ago.”
Murray seemed to imply that he wasn’t wanted in Dallas. For him to say that it comes off as him still being a little butt hurt about his departure. I’m sure he saw the Cowboys thriller against the Giants and after losing a nail bitter to the Falcons, Murray might have briefly thought the grass wasn’t greener on the other side. His 20 yard performance is sure to serve as extra motivation when the Cowboys come to town. Most importantly, the Eagles don’t want the Cowboys to start the season 2-0 with two division wins. Both teams will be laying it all on the line Sunday.
