You have to feel for Adidas and any other apparel brand that attempts to compete with Nike or Jordan brand. Take the University of Michigan.
The jersey scheme and the colors are the same — give or take a few stripes, but if you take away the Adidas logo and replace it with the swoosh or Jordan logo, it gets a totally different response.
Michigan assistant coach Jay Harbaugh previewed next seasons Jordan Brand uniforms and the response was as expected.
Michigan, scheduled to start a $169 million Nike deal next year, is the first college football program to partner with the Jordan franchise.
It’s a huge deal, and one certain to have the maize and blue back among college football’s elite — off the uniforms alone.
Jim Harbaugh is just the gravy at this point.
