Notre Dame Jay Hayes Benched For Twitter Rant Against Coaches

JayHayes

Sometimes your emotions get the best of you when your stuck in tough situation. We can all agree tweeting those frustrations on Twitter is not the solution.

Notre Dame Irish defensive tackle Jay Hayes will now face the consequences of his Twitter rant against the Irish coaching staff.

Irish Head Coach Brian Kelly has suspended the unhappy Hayes for the negative remarks he made Wednesday regarding his lack of playing time for this weekend’s upcoming game versus the University of Massachusetts Minutemen.

Kelly spoke on the importance of why to think twice before using social media to vent.

“You have to think before you hit send, and what you have to do is knock on my door instead of hitting the send button,” Kelly told reporters, per ESPN.com. “If he has a job at Google and talks about his boss that way, he probably is not going to have a job the next day.”

Now though Hayes deleted the tweets, all it takes is for one person to screenshot your tweet and you can be accountable for your tweets.

The Irish have endured countless season-ending injuries including star quarterback Malik Zaire (ankle), running back Tarean Folston (ACL), defensive Jarron Jones (MCL), and defensive back Shaun Crawford (ACL). The last thing they need is unhappy players causing more trouble, because with their injury rate Hayes could very well see playing time down the road.

Hopefully we can all learn from Hayes on thinking before using Twitter goes wrong.
