Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. is apart if the Panthers organization for the second time. Ginn signed with the team this summer after playing for the team back in 2013. Ginn is also a native of Cleveland Ohio, stomping grounds of NBA superstar Lebron James. Ginn also played for the Ohio State Buckeyes during his collegiate career, a team that LeBron James is a huge supporter of. Ginn and LeBron had a few run ins during his time in Ohio and shared with The Charlotte Observer a little bit about their time growing up during a questions and answer session.
Q. You’re from Cleveland. Did you ever know LeBron growing up?
A. Yeah, I know LeBron. I mean we are from the same area, we’re the same age. We grew up together.
Q. But did you actually grow up together?
A. I drove LeBron’s cars to prom my senior year and my wife’s senior year. So in ’04 and ’05 I drove his cars to prom.
Q. What cars? His Hummer from high school?
A. No I had a Denali on 26 (inch rims) And a BMW 600 series for my girl’s prom.
Q. Have y’all kept in touch over the years?
A. Well you know it’s hard. At first we were always in touch and then just over the years me being on the West Coast and playing football, and when I’m on my break he’s in season. And then when he’s on his break, I’m in season. When we get together it seems like nothing has changed. It’s ‘hi, how are you doing?’ Make sure everybody is fine. His agent is actually my god-brother.
