Rex Ryan is not your usual NFL head coach. Ryan is a great quote and is not shy about being real but this statement he gave USA Today is a little eye rolling.
Via USA Today,
This is definitely going to be it. This is my last stop in coaching, and then when my days are up, I’ll turn it over to the younger generation. I’m not going anywhere else. There are always going to be people that judge you, but that’s OK. – Rex Ryan
It’s not that I don’t believe Rex Ryan but it’s just that he seems like a guy that loves the game too much to just leave if something doesn’t work out. This is his first season as Bills coach and at 52 years-old, Ryan is relatively young in coach years, so I don’t buy this being his last stop if a disaster forced him out of Buffalo early. I don’t see that happening as the Bills are a team with moderate hopes playing in a tough conference, so expectations will be tempered for at least a few seasons. Bills look tough on paper, but so does the rest of the AFC East, minus the Jets. So if this really is Ryan’s last coaching gig, then it means he had some success and made the Bills relevant again.
