For once, I think a player and team have gotten it right. Steelers have been without young stud Martavis Bryant for the first two game of the season and will be without him for two more. Bryant is serving his 4-game suspension handed down by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy. Most players, while serving suspensions seem to just be away, on vacation enjoying life until they are reinstated but not Bryant.
Coach Mike Tomlin made a few vague comments regarding Bryant’s where about which raised a few eyebrows. Turns out that Bryant is spending some time in a treatment facility during his time away.
Steelers actually should be applauded for getting Martavis Bryant help, as in treatment. That is why he has not been at their facility.

This should be mandatory for all athletes that are suspended for substance abuse. Some of these players really need help. A slap on the wrist and a few weeks without pay doesn’t help build their character. When money isn’t an issue, it only shows them that they can get away with anything. This might be the reason why there are so many repeat offenders when it comes to these policies.
